It was a
big day for Impaler. The British native was finally playing before his home
crowd, and the pressure was on for both him and his team to perform in front of
the thousands that packed into Wembley Arena. In fact, Impaler reportedly told
his team “we're playing in London, so like if we don't win, we're not eating.” Fortunately,
the Supa Hot Crew managed to pull out a thrilling victory against the
Copenhagen Wolves, 23 kills to 14 in a 43-minute game.
In an
unfortunate trend that hit multiple teams in the EU LCS, the Supa Hot Crew also
suffered from roster troubles. Wewillfailer, the team’s usual support, was left
behind due to student exams and had to be replaced by the largely-unknown
Yerrow. However, the new player seemed to mesh well with SHC’s other players
and there were largely no hiccups in his performance throughout the game.
As if to give
Yerrow time to acclimate, both teams opted for passive starts without any lane
swaps or invasions. Farming was the name of the game for the first few minutes,
and though CW’s bottom lane managed to get a few Summoner spells out of Yerrow
and MrRalleZ, SHC’s toplaner Mimer kept YoungBuck pressed to his tower for
almost the duration of the laning phase to keep things even. First blood would
come after Impaler attempted an invasion of Airwak’s red buff, only to get
chased down by a four-man Copenhagen squad. Copenhagen also managed to take
home the first dragon of the game, garnering a slight early gold lead.
However,
the Supa Hot Crew was far from out of the game. Though the Wolves grabbed
additional kills with sneaky Fnatic-esque brush ganks, SHC managed to stay
mostly even in terms of objectives, holding their opponents down to a 2k gold
lead by twenty minutes. All they needed was one good teamfight to get back into
the game. Finally, seeing a lone Woolite running into CW’s red jungle, SHC pulled
the trigger. Though CW’s marksman would escape from both MrRalleZ and Impaler’s
Cataclysm, they had been effectively removed from the teamfight and left the
remainder of their colleagues to go in alone. A timely Intervention by Mimer
kept Selfie alive through cowTard’s burst and let SHC take the fight without a
single casualty. That led immediately to a Baron for the Supa Hot Crew and
their first gold lead of the game.
Seemingly
inspired from their victorious teamfight, SHC went on a tear, pressuring
multiple CW towers with seemingly little resistance from the Danish team and jumping
ahead in the kill count. With the tables turned and an absolute monster in
Mimer’s seven-kill Kayle, it seemed as though SHC would have little trouble
finishing the game. However, Copenhagen was not quite out yet. After defending
their inhibitor towers against several pushes, the Wolves managed to set up a
gorgeous flank maneuver with Airwak and cowTard while Mimer was away from his
team. Though SHC’s toplaner was able to Teleport in to join the fight, it was
too little, too late, and the Copenhagen Wolves took four kills off the Supa
Hot Crew. After reclaiming their momentum, the Danes charged down mid to take two
towers and an inhibitor, cutting the SHC’s gold lead down to just two thousand.
However,
the Wolves made a mistake by going for Baron. As CW tried to grab the buff
after their successful inhibitor push, the SHC arrived from behind just as the
monster fell and killed off three of the Wolves before they could escape.
Despite this setback, Copenhagen stayed on the offensive, grabbing a second
inhibitor from the Supa Hot Crew. However, the Wolves overreached around the
40-minute mark as they tried to take out SHC’s respawned mid inhibitor A beautiful
initiation by Impaler and Tidal Wave from Yerrow set up SHC to take three kills
off their opponents. With seventy-second death timers for most of Copenhagen’s
players, the Danes could only watch as the Supa Hot Crew pushed down mid for
the win.
